Dr Simone Bernt is a consultant phycisian in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Klinik Landstraße in Vienna, where she completed her residency and now works in the First Department of Internal Medicine under the direction of Professor Bernhard Ludvik. She completed her medical degree at the Medical University of Vienna and undertook international clinical placements at the University Hospital Zurich as well as the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr Bernt’s clinical focus comprises endocrine and metabolic disorders, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), diabetes and women’s metabolic health. She established a specialised outpatient clinic for women with PCOS, integrating endocrine care with comprehensive metabolic risk assessment. She also has extensive experience in the management of gestational diabetes, postpartum metabolic risk stratification, monogenic diabetes and diabetes-related complications, including diabetic retinopathy.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Bernt has been a teaching fellow at the Medical University of Vienna since 2021, delivering case-based learning courses for medical students. Her research experience includes the supervision and statistical evaluation of prospective clinical studies in the fields of rheumatology and ophthalmology at the Medical University of Vienna.
