Miroslava Varadinova

Miroslava Varadinova completed her medical training and PhD in Pharmacology at the Medical University Sofia, Bulgaria, where she also obtained board certification in pharmacology and toxicology. She is currently working as a clinician scientist at the Institute for Clinical Diabetology of the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf, Germany.

She gained international research experience as a visiting scholar at the Friedman Diabetes Institute and as a research fellow at Beth Israel Medical Center, where she investigated endocrine and metabolic mechanisms, including insulin resistance in polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Her current research focuses on the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases, particularly insulin resistance, type 1 diabetes, and related comorbidities, as well as the development of novel pharmacological and translational therapeutic strategies.

Dr Varadinova has authored over 100 publications, written and contributed to numerous medical textbooks, and she has led and participated in research projects in Bulgaria and the United States, as well as in her current position in Düsseldorf. She has extensive teaching experience in pharmacology, supervising PhD and medical students and contributing to academic training and examination processes.
