Prof. Peter Adolfsson is a Senior Physician at Högsbo Hospital, Gothenburg and at the hospital of Halland, Kungsbacka. He received his medical training at the Sahlgrenska Academy of the Gothenburg University and, subsequently, went on to specialise in paediatrics, sports Medicine, and, later on, he completed tertiary training in endocrinology and diabetes. His scientific activities focus on the impact of diabetes technology, exercise and diabetes in general and sometimes physical activity beneath the surface – scuba diving.

 

Peter is the first author of the latest ISPAD Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines related to exercise and of a recent review regarding AID-systems used for diabetes management in the pediatric population. On EASD e-Learning, he is the author of the module  “Connected pens, application of CGM metrics, and separated or combined use of the information in non-CSII insulin therapy “.

Moreover, he is one of the original founders of Diasend, where he served as a board member until the merger with Glooko 2016. In 2017, he received the ISPAD Prize for Innovation due to this work.

 

Peter leads courses in insulin pumps and more advanced diabetes technology and has created educational guides regarding the use of rtCGM and is CGM - always stating that technology must be used appropriately to achieve the best results. During the last 5 years, his focus has been on implementing digital health in diabetes care and the importance of a combined effort of technology, support and education.
