Ehtasham Ahmad is a consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. He attained his CCT in Diabetes and Endocrinology from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. He has completed a PhD in diabetes from the University of Leicester, UK. Before moving to the UK, he completed 4 years of fellowship training in Internal (General) Medicine from College of Physicians and Surgeons in Pakistan.
Dr Ahmad’s research and academic interests include novel pharmaceutical therapies in type 2 diabetes management, including GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT-2 inhibitors. Dr Ahmad has been a runner-up for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Awards in the Rising Star category, for his research work during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has published in high impact journals including LANCET.
Duality of interest: Dr Ahmad has received travel grants from Lilly and Novo Nordisk as well as honoraria / consultation fees from Lilly and Medexpress.
