Dr Manning’s expertise spans undergraduate and postgraduate education (including apprenticeships) across HCS, Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Medical Education. In 2024/25, she was invited to join a high-profile NHS England review panel chaired by Professor Dame Jane Dacre, examining the Genomics Education Programme and the National School of HCS. During this review, she gained experience in the use of Generative AI to analyse qualitative survey data. She also served as an education advisor to the Royal College of Surgeons Intercollegiate Extended Surgical Team Board from September 2023 to January 2025.
Her research contributions have included publications on clinical education, hypertension, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, diabetes, and vascular medicine, with over 50 presentations at national and international scientific meetings. She received the Chief Scientific Officer HCS Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and was awarded Fellowship of the Academy for HCS in 2019.
From 2019 to 2023, Dr Manning led a project to strengthen the assessment of current and new modules within the EASD e-learning programme.
