Professor Jane Speight selected a landmark paper that, for the first time, investigated the psychosocial effects and challenges caused by diabetes that must not be confused with depression. Jane Speight is the Chair of the PsychoSocial Aspects of Diabetes (PSAD) Study Group, a reference group to the EASD on all matters related to the psychological, social and behavioural aspects of diabetes. In this episode, she explains the concept of “diabetes distress”, a term introduced by the seminal work she chose.
