Inass Shaltout

Inass Shaltout is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Diabetes at the faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt. She is also working as a member of the Egyptian Board of Internal Medicine, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and Founder and Director of the Professional Diabetes Diploma. She is also worked as a consultant in New Kasr Al Eini Teaching Hospital and as chairman of the Internal Medicine Department, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.
Professor Shaltout’s research interests include the treatment of type 2 diabetes and the management of fasting during Ramadan for people with diabetes and she has supervised more than 30 postgraduate MSc and MD theses, Egypt. She was a co-author of the 2016 and 2025 publications Diabetes and Ramadan: Practical Guidelines, published by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in collaboration with the Diabetes and Ramadan (DAR) International Alliance. She also published Risk Stratification in People with Diabetes for Fasting During Ramadan: Consensus from Arabic Association for the Study of Diabetes and Metabolism.
She is currently the president of the Arabic Association of Diabetes and Metabolism and a member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD). She is also a member of the Egyptian Society of Internal Medicine, the Egyptian Society of Nephrology, and the Egyptian Medical Association of Studying Obesity (EMASO). Her teaching experience includes working for five years as an honorary lecturer on the Diabetes Diploma at Cardiff University, UK. She has served as a peer reviewer for many medical journals.
