Hello. My name is Wasim Hanif. I'm a Professor of Diabetes and Endocrinology at University Hospital, Birmingham, in the UK. We will also be looking at developing a culturally competent practice, for managing diabetes in various cultures and beliefs in a multicultural society.

This module focuses on the global prevalence of religious fasting and centres around the distribution of Muslim populations across the world. You will have the opportunity to explore, in detail, the epidemiology of people with diabetes who fast during Ramadan and to develop deeper insights into how you might provide advice and treatment for people with diabetes during Ramadan.

At each stage of the module you will be invited to take part in knowledge checks. The module concludes with a series of case studies to stimulate thought and provide opportunities to apply knowledge to realistic patient scenarios.
