The learning objectives are the importance of pre-pregnancy care, with a focus on glycaemic control and folic acid supplementation. In addition, they aim to evaluate the presence of diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, microalbuminuria or chronic hypertension in order to stabilise and treat these conditions appropriately. But the most important objective is to teach the woman in self-care, in order to follow the recommendations for lifestyle and changes in medical therapy.

This module will introduce you to preconception care in women with pre-existing diabetes.
