In this module, you will learn about treatment of gestational diabetes around the period of delivery, and also about the long-term screening strategies in order to detect the women who could later develop diabetes.

This final module will allow you to consider appropriate peripartum management for women with GDM, as well as how to manage this patient group both immediately post-partum and in the long-term.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Explain appropriate peripartum management, immediate postpartum and long-term postpartum follow-up for women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)

Evaluate the future risk of overt diabetes in women who develop GDM; use the guidelines for follow-up and strategies to detect women who could later develop diabetes

Develop plans for peripartum management, immediate postpartum follow-up and long-term postpartum follow-up for women with GDM
