This module examines the risk factors, significance and treatment of paediatric diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a complication associated with particular dangers for this vulnerable age group.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
✓ Summarise the pathophysiology, risk factors and frequency of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes
✓ Apply current guidelines for the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes and suspected DKA to typical clinical presentations
✓ Interpret the evidence base underpinning clinical guidelines for the treatment of DKA in a paediatric population
