As-salaam 'alaykum. My name is Salem Beshyah. I’m one of the consultant endocrinologists at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital Abu Dhabi and I’m Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Dubai Medical College. I’ll be discussing with you today the practical management of diabetes during Hajj. So, the educational objectives of this presentation are to provide some background information on the rites of Hajj in a clinical context; to describe the health hazards of Hajj, as an example of a mass-gathering event; to discuss specific diabetes-related clinical problems and discuss the practical management of diabetes during Hajj.

Explain the rites of Hajj in a clinical context and the specific diabetes-related clinical challenges Hajj presents

Explain the hazards faced by pilgrims performing Hajj and the specific health hazards for people with diabetes
