This is the first of two modules introducing you to the 2022 American Diabetes Association (ADA) and European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) consensus report on managing hyperglycaemia in type 2 diabetes. Module 1 focuses on the background to how the report was produced, its rationale and the essential components of care it outlines for people with type 2 diabetes.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Identify the rationale, new areas of additional focus and emphasis of the 2022 ADA/EASD consensus report for the management of hyperglycaemia in type 2 diabetes that underpin the recommended principles of care

Explain the evidence underpinning the recommended personalised approaches for weight management, 24-hour physical behaviours, glucose-lowering medications and holistic, person-centred care

Develop holistic person-centred pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to the team-based management of hyperglycaemia in partnership with people with type 2 diabetes
