Empowering people with diabetes to manage their own condition is essential to effective treatment – and depends on comprehensive, ongoing patient education. This module gives a brief introduction to the history of patient education in diabetes, including some of the key concepts relating to education and behaviour-change interventions.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
✓ Explain the aims and benefits of education to equip people with diabetes with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to utilise self-management strategies to improve quality of life and outcomes
✓ Summarise the psychosocial and behavioural models that underpin effective patient education
✓ Identify important strategies underpinning effective patient education to support improved outcomes for people with diabetes
This module includes self-marked assessments, such as knowledge checks and/or case studies, as well as a marked final assessment, which you can attempt up to five times. To complete the module, you must review all chapters, pass the final assessment (80% pass mark), and fill in our feedback form.
