This module focuses on the global prevalence of religious fasting and centres around the distribution of Muslim populations across the world. You will have the opportunity to explore, in detail, the epidemiology of people with diabetes who fast during Ramadan and to develop deeper insights into how you might provide advice and treatment for people with diabetes during Ramadan.
At each stage of the module you will be invited to take part in knowledge checks. The module concludes with a series of case studies to stimulate thought and provide opportunities to apply knowledge to realistic patient scenarios.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
✓ Summarise the global distribution of fasting and the epidemiology of people with diabetes who fast during Ramadan
✓ Explain the principles of Ramadan and guidance to support people with diabetes during Ramadan
✓ Develop a culturally competent approach to the provision of information about diabetes and Ramadan
This module includes self-marked assessments, such as knowledge checks and/or case studies, as well as a marked final assessment, which you can attempt up to five times. To complete the module, you must review all chapters, pass the final assessment (80% pass mark), and fill in our feedback form.
