To introduce our course on diabetic neuropathy, this module looks at the various types of diabetic neuropathic disorder, with particular focus on diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). We outline the heavy toll diabetic neuropathy exacts on people with diabetes and on health services, and examine the benefits of particular approaches to screening and early detection.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
✓ Explain the range of diabetic neuropathy disorders and related signs and symptoms resulting from nerve damage in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
✓ Outline the major health and economic burden of diabetic neuropathy and the benefits of screening and early detection
✓ Plan your approach to the screening, clinical examination and diagnosis of painful diabetic neuropathy in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
This module includes self-marked assessments, such as knowledge checks and/or case studies, as well as a marked final assessment, which you can attempt up to five times. To complete the module, you must review all chapters, pass the final assessment (80% pass mark), and fill in our feedback form.
