Comorbidities in type 1 diabetes, not only other autoimmune-related conditions but obesity too, have significant implications for treatment and quality of life. This module explores the comorbidities most commonly associated with type 1, whose treatment should be an integral part of care provided by the diabetes team.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
✓ Explain the impact of obesity and autoimmune-related comorbid conditions on people with type 1 diabetes, including thyroid disorders, coeliac disease, vitamin B12 deficiency and impaired quality of life
✓ Analyse the evidence underpinning active monitoring for and treatment of comorbidities by the diabetes team
✓ Plan the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of typical patients with type 1 diabetes and comorbid conditions
This module includes self-marked assessments, such as knowledge checks and/or case studies, as well as a marked final assessment, which you can attempt up to five times. To complete the module, you must review all chapters, pass the final assessment (80% pass mark), and fill in our feedback form.
