Hello, I’m Professor Pratik Choudhary. I’m a diabetologist working at King’s College Hospital and in this module, we’ll be talking about the basics of continuous glucose monitoring and how to use it. In particular, we’ll be going through understanding a little bit about how continuous glucose monitoring works, being aware of some of the different systems currently available and an overview of some of the key studies showing the benefits of continuous glucose monitoring. We’ll then move on into slightly more practical discussion about how we set up different continuous glucose monitoring devices and how we can use the extra information these devices provide to help our patients get the most from their diabetes.

This module introduces you to continuous glucose monitoring.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Explain the principles of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in type 1 diabetes and the practical use of CGM including patient education, managing expectations, technical and therapeutic options

Analyse the clinical trial evidence underpinning the use of CGM in type 1 diabetes

Develop patient treatment plans considering the results from CGM for a series of patients with type 1 diabetes

This module includes self-marked assessments, such as knowledge checks and/or case studies, as well as a marked final assessment, which you can attempt up to five times. To complete the module, you must review all chapters, pass the final assessment (80% pass mark), and fill in our feedback form.
